Researchers get insights in minutes instead of hours
The outcomes
- Data processing times from 24 hours to minutes.
- Faster drug development cycles.
The context
Companies hold vast amounts of valuable data but often struggle to unlock its potential for monitoring, analysis, automation, and data intelligence. Our client, an international pharmaceutical company, aimed to accelerate its digital transformation by building a customized data platform. However, they lacked the methodology and technical expertise to design and implement a solution that met their business needs. Their existing system required up to a full day to process experimental data, while scientists needed results in under an hour to make timely decisions.
The logic
Continuing with the legacy approach meant wasted time, higher costs, and slower research cycles. To remain competitive, the company needed a platform capable of processing experiment datasets within one hour, ensuring researchers could act quickly on insights and reduce time-to-market for new drugs.
The solution
The IT department partnered with us to design and implement a high-performance data platform from the ground up. Our responsibilities included gathering and challenging requirements, designing the architecture, defining the backlog, implementing and testing each component, automating deployment, and tuning performance. Over two years, our engineering team built a robust platform leveraging modern data engineering practices and automation to ensure scalability and reliability.
The platform is now fully operational and used daily by research scientists, for example to make decisions on what substance or molecule to explore next.
